Magura 2008 Fork Lineup

Magura 2008 Fork Line
Think quick- what’s the first fork company to pop in your head when you think of the letter “m”. Marzocchi or perhaps Manitou? Magura may have built up a reputation for making quality hydraulic stoppers but hope 2008 marks the beginning of their association with front squish options for just about every type of rider.

They begin with the Durin which if you couldn’t already tell by its simple graphic scheme, lack of knobs and levers, and relative short travel (80-100mm) is their XC entry. 32 mm stanchions and 3.2 pounds mean weight weenies have much to get excited about.

The middle sibling of the new trio just so happens to be the model most anticipated by your friends here at MBT; The Laurin FCR weighs only a pound more than the Durin (4.2) but offers AM heads 100 to 130 mm of adjustable travel to work with via remote. We’re big advocates of the idea of steeping up our frame’s geometry for the slow haul upward and stretching it out for the gravity-assisted plunge back down. Also unique to the Laurin is a new on-the-fly pedal platform that can be activated via handlebar remote. Cool!

Finally the 2008 Magura fork line tops out with the Wotan. Surely you didn’t think the enduro/ big hit set would be ignored, did you? 36 mm stanchion tubes and 120 to 160 mm worth of adjustable travel make the Wotan the longest legged, beefiest option of the lineup. Especially noteworthy on this single crown model is the arch which extends all the way around the forks in a full 360 degrees of stiffness. The idea behind it is to duplicate the stiffness of a dual crown design without the weight and bulkiness.

All three of these made in Germany beauts (in addition to the coil-sprung Odur, and air sprung Menja) should be making their way to your local dealers about the time you read this. Before you fire off an email requesting a test of these bad boys, rest assured, we’ve got a request in. For more info head over to Magura’s site at: www.magura.com
