It is often said that ours is an industry in which the rolling stone gathers no moss. Of course this is in reference to the manufacturers out there who realize the importance of innovation. KHS has proven its continued dedication to the industry by revamping its entire model line despite the fact that many of the models weren’t only successful, but were new for last year. KHS has been advancing their product development so rapidly that we had planned to shoot our 06 KHS AM1000 out against the 06 Iron Horse Warrior Pro for the November 06 issue only to discover the AM1000 we had in our possession was going to be eclipsed entirely by the all new 2007 model.
We have been keeping a watchful eye on the KHS web site ever since news of a revamped 2007 line made it to our office and are pleased to share the news of their XC series of bikes which has been expanded to six dual suspension models ranging in price from beautiful $3799 Team on down to the $439 FXT. Regardless of your budget, KHS has a bike for you.
The XC Team is a work of art. The $3799 flagship model contains perks such as a genuine Horst Link four bar linkage, Shimano XTR components, and 100 mm of fully tunable suspension from RockShox.
Next on the line on the XC 604. Highlights include 4 inches of Manitou suspension travel front and rear, genuine Horst Link four bar linkage, SRAM components, and a $1500 price tag.
The XC204 is packing 4 inches of Rockshox suspension, genuine Horst Link, Hayes hydraulic discs, SRAM shifters, and Truvativ trimmings for a grand. Yeah, we don’t know how they do it either.
Riders on a budget will appreciate the XC 104 which includes a Horst Link four bar mated to a coil-over Mozo with a Spinner Grind fork up front. 4 inches of travel, manual discs, and Shimano components for $800.
Is that a genuine Horst Link equipped bike that goes for $700? Sure is. The XC004 squeezes a ton of name brand components into a bargain basement price point. Mozo provides 4 inches of travel all around, manual disc brakes, and Shimano components round out the package.
KHS wishes to neglect nobody and ensures riders on even the tightest budget can afford the benefits of a dual suspension setup. The $439 FXT Trail offers up 90 mm of Mozo travel in an honest-performing single pivot design. Somehow KHS has managed to package Shimano components, manual disc brakes, and full suspension into a sub-$500 price range.

The XC line is only one of nearly half a dozen off road lines KHS is offering for 2007. We suggest making their website your first stop when shopping for a new rig. They’ve literally got something for everyone.
